Hello!
My name is Raq (pronounced "rock," and short for Raquelle), and I'm a musician-turned-professional-witch located in Savannah, Georgia. After founding my music teaching business in 2021 under the same name, I began to notice that music--and creativity as a whole--provided a unique portal for healing and transformation for many people. My lessons became a bit of a (consensual!) experiment, where I applied holistic concepts like meditation, awareness, breath work, and somatic experiencing to make the most out of a musical practice. Then, I began to realize something not at all surprising, but impactful all the same: creativity is spiritual, and spirituality is creative.
With this realization, I set off on a new mission: to help people reconnect with themselves. In a world that is rapidly changing and full of violence at every turn, we are cut off from ourselves, our own unique voices (our "superpowers"), and the impact that these can make. Through a creative practice, we have the opportunity to come home.
bio and Expertise
After playing music for over 20 years, competing as a classical pianist, playing in multiple ensembles and bands, writing, composing, and releasing music, and doing some light touring, I've learned a thing or two about the creative practice. While I loved playing music, I found the lifestyle personally unsustainable. Burnt out and spiritually drained, I began a healing and transformation process which continues to this day. After exploring atheism, Buddhism, yogic traditions, and growing up Christian, I found little difference in the heart of each tradition--a longing to understand the world around us and our place in it. While finding my home within animistic witchcraft, I acknowledge truth in all faith practices which prioritize at their core a dedication to human dignity and liberation for all.
Upon finding a spiritual home, I also realized that I loved the practice of music, rather than the performance of it. It is this which led me to teach others how to pursue their own practice, while helping them fit it into their already bustling lives.
Since then, I've enjoyed three years of helping people create regenerative musical practices. During this time, I began my own tarot study. Seeing its transformative power personally, I began spending my off days reading at local markets and events and incorporating readings into lessons with my more intrigued adult students. I crafted my signature "Creator" tarot series and began offering it to friends and students, helping them gain clarity about their projects and creative blocks. Blending spirituality with creative practice has been one of the great joys of my life, and I can't wait to share this joy with you.
